萨里埃利是奥地利一名宫廷乐师，在没有遇到莫扎特之前，萨里埃利深得国王赏识，他对自己的音乐成就也非常自信。直到某天莫扎特被国王邀请入宫。国王约瑟夫二世酷爱音乐，他让莫扎特演奏了一些乐章。莫扎特的音乐天赋和极高造诣让萨里埃利眼红不已，尤其是莫扎特还是个年轻人。国王让莫扎特弹奏萨里埃利的乐谱，莫扎特弹奏时帮忙进行了修改使乐章更加顺畅。莫扎特的才能让萨里埃利嫉妒的要发狂。自此，萨里埃利百般刁难莫扎特，他故意缩短演出歌剧的周期，或是恶意涂改莫扎特完成的作品，在莫扎特生病期间还故意催促他写《安魂曲》。莫扎特身体每况愈下，甚至已经提不起笔。萨里埃利就提出由莫扎特口述，他来执笔，目的就是摧残莫扎特身体，也是为了能在莫扎特的葬礼上他能亲自演奏曲目，以此达到自己名扬天下又除掉对手的卑鄙目的。莫扎特最后拖着病体完成了不朽神作《安魂曲》后英年早逝，年仅35岁。萨里埃利目的达到，但莫扎特这种百年不见的音乐天才早逝又让萨里埃利产生深深的罪恶感，余生萨里埃利在备受心理煎熬中度过。

Sarrieli was a court musician in Austria. Before meeting Mozart, Salieri was highly appreciated by the king, and he was very confident in his musical achievements. Until one day Mozart was invited into the palace by the king. King Joseph II loved music, and he had Mozart play some pieces. Mozart's musical talent and high attainments made Salieri jealous, especially when Mozart was still a young man. The king asked Mozart to play Salieri's score, and Mozart helped to modify it to make the movement smoother. Mozart's talent made Salieri mad with jealousy. Since then, Salieri made things difficult for Mozart in every possible way. He deliberately shortened the cycle of performing operas, or maliciously altered Mozart's completed works, and deliberately urged Mozart to write "Requiem" during his illness. Mozart's health deteriorated, and he couldn't even hold a pen. Salieri proposed that Mozart dictate the dictation, and he would write it for the purpose of destroying Mozart's body, and also so that he could play the repertoire in person at Mozart's funeral, so as to achieve his despicable goal of becoming famous and getting rid of his opponent. Mozart finally dragged his sick body to complete the immortal masterpiece "Requiem" and died young at the age of 35. Salieri's goal was achieved, but the premature death of a musical genius like Mozart, who had not been seen for a century, made Salieri feel deeply guilty, and Salieri spent the rest of his life in psychological torment
