"Murder on the Orient Express 1974" tells about a horrific kidnapping and tearing case in New York in 1930. The mastermind, Cassetti, got away with the ransom. Five years later, detective Hercule Polo (played by Albert Finney) is accidentally involved in a murder case on his way to London on the Orient Express

Polo encountered a series of suspicious events on the train. Overnight, he was woken up by the noise from the next room No. 10. Soon after, the train was forced to stop in Yugoslavia due to road closures due to heavy snow. In the early hours of the morning, another loud noise woke Polo from his sleep. Dame Harriet Belinda Hubbard (Lauren Bacall) claims that rich man Ratchett (Richard Widmark) has sneaked into her private room. After daybreak, Ratchett's housekeeper Beddos (played by John Gielgud) arrived, but could not open the door of Room 10. The conductor Pierre-Paul Michel (played by Jean-Pierre Cassel) opened the door with a key, but found a door chain hanging inside the door. Polo and Pierre opened the door together, and found that Ratchett had died tragically in the private room, bleeding from the corners of his mouth, in a horrific death.
